By default, after a fresh installation of CONJ theme, WordPress displays a list of posts on the home page of your site. This list of posts is automatically updated as soon as new posts are published, therefore this page is not static.
There are various reasons why people desire to have a static page as their homepage. These types of homepages can display a landing page, a portfolio, a marketplace, or many other possibilities. WordPress is set up in such a way that by default the front page displays the latest posts from your blog. Having a static page is a feature that will be useful for those who desire to keep their blog in a separate location within their site.
Create a front-page
- Login to your WordPress dashboard.
- Create a new page, by visiting Pages » Add New.
- Set the page title (e.g. Home).
- From the template drop-down in the Page Attributes meta box select Fluid template.
- Add content you would like to see in the content area of the static front-page.
- Publish the page.
The page assigned as the front page of the site will display the static information you wish your readers to know. It may be customized to direct people to welcome or give instructions, featured product, highlight specific coupon or sale offer, articles, shop by categories, or any other block you wish your visitors to see as soon as they land on your site.
Create a posts page
- Login to your WordPress dashboard.
- Create a new page, by visiting Pages » Add New.
- Set the page title (e.g. Blog, News, Articles, or an appropriate name).
- Do not use any custom page template for this page.
- Leave the content area blank since any other content other than Title will no be displayed at all on this specific page.
- Publish the page.
The page assigned as the blog page (posts page) of the site displays posts in reverse chronological order. Posts set as Sticky posts will stick to the top of the queue, and navigation and organization of post content are through categories and tags.
